The combos in that game is fun as hell!, and for that alone it is the best in the series.ģ- Now, DMC 4. To be honest, I always felt DMC 3 is lacking because it has almost zero platforming.Ģ- I maintain that as far as combat go, DMC 3 will always be unmatched. I really hated that you have to be at a checkpoint to switch weapons in 3 and 4. I also appreciated how you can switch swiftly between all of your arsenal on the go, and mix up and try different combos. I think I should talk more about that since it is the most prominent and important aspect of any DMC series.ġ- Firstly, I am one who enjoys variety in gameplay, so, between platofrming and gameplay, I really appreciated that in DmC over the two other games. Done right, I think there is a great game there, and with the huge, rightful praise Ninja Theory got following Hellblade, I think they have enough momentum to pull it off. Most likely, a sequel would revolve around an ultimate showdown between the two. Vergil feels betrayed by his brother, and Dante is pretty much far from that stupid punk teenager he was at the beginning.
But the Definitive Edition offered vast improvements to the original game, and I'd like to see how they can build upon that. Now, most people associate that game with the notorious E3 trailer and Dante's appearance. DmC: DE actually addressed a lot of the gameplay complaints. In DMC 4, however, he is now older, but he is still doing the same thing, and it does really come off as desperate and mid-life crsis-ey. That is why most of the line's delivery is funny and a joy to watch. A major reason why DMC 3's Dante works because he is a cheesy, cocky young man. I con't take credit for this one since a member here raised it, and after playing a bit of DMC 4 again, I felt he was absolutely right. Original Dante's cockiness is not that much interesting anymore.I feel that choosing a direction to go with after DMC 4 is indeed difficult. Even though a while ago a developer who worked at Ninja Theory was kind enough to answer my question as to why Capcom felt the need to reboot the series, where he said that he did NOT feel that Capcom did it because they didn't know where to go with the story, I still feel that that was a part of it. Between Dante, Vergil, and Nero, the three main protagonists, things are pretty much a mess.
First of all, I don't think that DmC was objectively better than the original series, and it is not that I didn't enjoy the original games.
